Modern
browswers appear to have some trouble with the frames I had defined. I sat down (actually stand at the desk) and I have now finished the old 240 webpages and added a lot of new ones, such that there will be no more problems with my frames. It makes it easier if you happened to fall into one of the pages to navigate, since I added a simple menubar at the top Have a look at the glass ware of my grandfather Hugo Gehlin: Another treat is a book called "Tecknare i Tid och Otid", a sample of drawings published during a part of Mr. Björn Bergs career at the daily newspaper: Dagens Nyheter. The pictures span the development of the artist and at the same time show a changing world over 30 years (1952 until1984). The text is his own, but only in Swedish. A further Berg artist: Mr. Folke W:son Berg, father to Björn, is presented. He was during his lifetime a beloved free air painter. He could stand outside in the bitter cold in the middle of the winter in the mountains in Härjedalen. You could find him as well as at the stony shores in Stockholm archipelago. I show one sketch is from his 10 years in New York City, in the late twenties, where he among other tasks painted wallpaintings in so called "speak-easies". The sketch shows Brooklyn Bridge under construction, but if you look carefully you will find a sailing ship along with a horse and carriage. These were the years of a great change. I will try to publish some of his paintings from two journeys across the African continent: Kongo to Tanganyika in 1960s. . How it all began: (a part of the old internet page) Internet 2001 Dear visitor, you have found your way to a page with and about two Swedish artist, both painters with an established audience in galleries and exhibitions and museums. This page is but an attempt to bring you closer to their art, and especially devoted to those who cannot access the art in Stockholm (or for that matter, Sweden) Eva Gehlin-Berg used to be known mostly for her large tapestry work. You can find her art in many institutions, such as hospitals, around Sweden. For the past ten years, she has turned to painting in oil. She has created a row of fine portraits, of which one is that of the author Alf Henriksson, which you may find at Gripsholms castel in the collection of personalities. On these pages you may a small selection of pictures from her production, with some emphasize on the portraits. Björn Berg has illustrated a great number of books. You will find children books about Mrs. Pepperpot (Alf Prøysen) and the Michel from Lönneberga (Astrid Lindgren). But you will also find history books, like the large volume: All Times, for which the research alone took some four years. He worked daily for the Dagens Nyheter, a newspaper published in Stockholm, in which you found drawings from different areas of life but also from different countries. His water-colour works are often full of humoristic details, with contrast between town and countryside. Above all his beloved "Härjedalen", a high level area county in Sweden, where you count one person per square kilometer, has been subject for his painting. He works in different materials as well, wood carving or different print techniques. Some years back he and Torbjörn Berg in cooperation made a sculpture in Lönneberga of the famous little boy carving his little men in the wood shed. This is the official page for these artist. Nevertheless it is an amateur page, run by Sven Berg in his spare time, with some rough tools. Hopefully there will be better pages created over the next years, based on gained experience and aquired skills. Sofar you will have to do with what I have managed. Would you care to comment, please send an email to me at kontakt@bildmakarna-berg.net.. A major exhibition will be arranged this autumn at the national gallery in Stockholm ("Nationalmuseum").
